I'm Painting Online Sunday, Aug. 10, 1 pm Central!

I found this photo on wetcanvas.com in the image library and thought it might make a fun painting.

I've been busy this week on a commissioned painting of a man and his horse. There are progress images on my blog on Thursday and Friday's posts, if you'd like to see where I am in the process. You can check back in the days ahead to see how it develops, if you're interested.

The gallery has been open six months now, and it's been a blast to be there and to paint (almost) every day. I'm so glad I made this transition from doctor to artist. I'm so glad I didn't wait for some future "righter" time. I went to a memorial for a friend this afternoon and her sister read a poem titled, "Do It Now." I'll copy it here for you:

DO IT NOW
--Author Unknown

If you have hard work to do,
Do it now.
Today the skies are clear and blue,
Tomorrow clouds may come in view,
Yesterday is not for you;
Do it now.
If you have a song to sing.
Sing it now.
Let the tones of gladness ring
Clear as song of bird in spring.
Let each day some music bring;
Sing it now.
If you have kind words to say,
Say them now.
Tomorrow may not come your way,
Do a kindness while you may,
Loved ones will not always stay;
Say them now.
If you have a smile to show,
Show it now.
Make hearts happy, roses grow,
Let the friends around you know
The love you have before they go;
Show it now.

Hi Susan, I'll plan to be there today to watch you paint. I had left a comment after you painted last time asking if sometime you could do the finishing touches on a painting for us live. The things you did to your kitty painting I would love to have seen, like the details in the eyes. What a cute puppy to paint. Also I'm so sorry to hear about the loss of your friend, the poem is wonderful and so true.

You probably don't have enough time to respond on this one, but I think I will try to paint ALONG with you today as a learning experience.
Sorry about your friend...time is short and DO IT NOW is a perfect poem and way of life. Glad to be 'doing' it!

Hi Susan, I will be off as SAG car for Gene on a long bike ride. I will paint a little plein air and wait for him at his destination.

I'll check when we get back but it will probably be too late. :(

With my new computer I can see you "big" time. :)

Later ... have fun.

S,
I got to watch the first few minutes Sunday, but my 4 year old Lola (granddaughter) wanted me to play in her tent with her. Sorry, you never had a chance! Hope to get to watch you again soon. Have a great day/week.

Sorry I couldn't stay on Sunday, but I caught up Monday morning and wow! you sure got me fired up. I did as you suggested and painted the dog myself. ( posted on my blog) I thoroughly enjoyed it too! I learned so much from you, you have my eternal admiration. Thank you also for you very kind words about 'Cool Off'
