Today I tried this blue stripe and waved the stripes some, but I didn't see until now that I have all the stripes converging on the right. Sigh. I'll take a fresh look on Monday and see what I think then. I think the blue is too saturated... at least it looks so in this very bad photo.
I worked a bit more on her face today, too. I'm not sure the changes would be obvious to anyone but me, but I think it's better.
A family came in today when I was starting work on this one and I told them each of the details I was going to work on. Later, just as I was going to sign it, they returned and checked to see that I'd made the changes I'd mentioned. Very nice folks. And, as always, it feels good to have someone care about my work.
I'm proud of this one, and I'm eager to know how the fellow likes his gift. I don't know how his wife will be able to wait until Christmas to give it to him!
Some progress on Peru and a finish

I LOVE the blue stripe, it centres the focus on the face and really brings it alive. It 'sings' now. Brilliant stroke!
I am so impressed with that horse!
Beautifully done, and so you should be very proud.
Susan, these two paintings are just AMAZING!! I know I wouldn't be able to wait until Christmas...
I haven't had the courage to start a self portrait, yet. Will try doing Tartine, the cat first....
Hi Susan, The man and horse came out really wonderful, what a great Christmas gift. The little girl is so special, her face sure is the focus. Doesn't seem fair after all of this you are struggling with the background, that should be the easy part,ha. That is the story of painting isn't it?
Susan, the blankets are hand woven so any irregularity would be acceptable. :) Lovely painting, makes me "homesick". She looks perfect.
The man and horse is so well done. You do great work!!
I think the Peruvian girl is looking real good! I'm back on portraiture for a bit using Golden Open acrylics. I'll be posting them soon. Keep up the good work.
Susan, this portrait turned out beautifully, the man and his horse look so relaxed together and I think you got a great likeness of them both. He will be thrilled,....what a wonderful gift.
I like the little girl just like she is. I think the blue stripe is more subtle than the fuschia shade you were going to use. The light on her little face really draws the eye. I love it.
Hi, Susan,
Your work is wonderful! Would love to visit your studio/gallery if I ever get to come to San Antonio again. Thrilled that you're painting on ustream!
Hi Susan,
These two portraits look fantastic.
I can see the bits of detail you have added to the horse, the highlights in the halter and just bunches of little details that make all difference.
The blue in the blanket looks much better, she is beautiful.
