Well, I've taken this photo here at home after dark, so the blues seem to be intensified. But I wanted to post this anyway. I painted this today for me... can you imagine? I loved it.
Below it are three previous stages of the painting.

This is really wonderful Susan. I love the subject and just everything about it.
Thank you, Barb! Wouldn't you know that as soon as I posted the image I started painting on it again! I'll have to upload a new photo when I'm SURE I'm done! I love the subject, too. I know I'll paint these children several times in several ways.
Hi Susan,
This is great. It looks like the Moms have come to tell the little children it's time to leave the beach.
Just wonderful.

Sweet painting, how big is it & will you keep it? This is my favourite subject anyway, lovely.
Beautiful! I love the color choices and the carefree restful mood of everyone in the painting. Simply beautiful!
Great design, really like the child in total shadow.
Thank you Diana, Victoria and Bill? Lisa?.. The child in shadow is my favorite part of the painting, too. I want to paint her again in big globs of swirly, unmixed paint... and much larger... just to see if I can pull it off. Diana- I'm planning a series of small figure paintings and will put it among those. Oh, it's 10x8. I forgot to put that in the post.
There's something about this that reminds me of "Look" magazine from the 50's. It has such a great feel to it! And I really like that you've shown the progression - that is really interesting to see.
Gorgeous! Love those blues. Thanks for the 'in progess' shots, too.
I love this scene. I've lived near the beach all of my life and this is so much like home. Colors are amazing.
And how nice that you painted it for fun!
The colors are so wonderfully vivid. The little child in the shadow has such a sweet "caught in the moment" look on those sweet sun kissed cheeks. The flash of hot pink in Mom's shirt is so great across from the Ultra Marine and I love the transparency and variety of color in the water along the shoreline. Simply beautiful!
Beautiful!! This is sure to be another award winner.
