16"x20" oil on stretched canvas
I painted this this afternoon.... and was so excited the entire time. This is what I've been imagining- big brush, thick un-blended paint laid on simply and deliberately. I can't wait to do the next one! I did set it aside and worked on the commission of the sister and brother playing Monopoly during my broadcast tonight. I don't think I shut up the entire two hours. We had a great conversation covering several topics. I do so love hanging out with 'the gang' who comes to chat with me while I work. Thank you to all of you who joined me!
Thank you, too, for all the comments on my "no pictures, just words" post about my memories of the moon landing. I've come to rely on the kindness of this blogging community we've created. You're an essential part of what makes my life as an artist so good. I'm grateful. I hope to offer you as much goodness in return.

Wonderful painting Susan,I love the loose style and all the colors in the surrounding sand. It is so great when a painting flows and you enjoy the process so much. I tuned in for a while to your broadcast today and learned lots from your wisdom, thankyou for being such a generous and kind soul.
You showed this so quickly on ustream that I only had time to glimpse the Little Sweeties for a few seconds. Seeing it now and savoring it is so wonderful.
Stunning brushwork and so many areas that I really love; the falling strap, the delicate reach for the bucket, the cocked hand, the light spot just above the right elbow, the gorgeous colors in the water and in their hair. I could go on and on.
The innocence in this brings back sweet nostalgic memories of developing those budding girlfriend or sisterly bonds with one being the leader and one the observer.
This is a wonderful painting!
Hi Susan,
I love seeing what you do, and this loose style is delicious. The blog community has changed the entire way we think about art, and vastly improved the experience of being an artist. I am thrilled to be part of it, and to know wonderful, kind, artists like you.

Love this! The composition is great, and the flesh tones are so lovely.
Fond memmories come to my mind when looking at this painting... from very far away in time, and from very close too...
I really like this painting! The little backs are so sweet and innocent. I can just imagine them talking to each other. Really great colors in the figures and the background. I can just look and look!
