Beginning of Commissioned Couple

I'm about five hours into this new painting today. Just blocking in so far.
The above was about halfway into today's work.

It's going to be a pleasure to paint the portraits of these two people. Their inner happiness just shines. This was the original reference photo:
This is how I reshaped it to present as the concept for the composition:

You can just tell these are nice people, love their smiles. What program do you use to move things around like you do?

Hi Barbara- I use an older version of Adobe Photoshop at home, and Adobe Photoshop Elements at the gallery and on my laptop. Elements is significantly less expensive but still does all I need it to do.

happy Brushing.

That's "blocking in"? This looks great - it seems like they are developing from the page, like a photograph.

Man Susan! If I ever need a portrait painted I know where to go. You are so good at getting a likeness and turning it into a beautiful painting..

Susan, I don't see how you get such a good likeness right off! I can't wait to see the finish!

Beautiful! I can already grasp their "inner happiness" from the work you've done so far. Have a great day!

Thank you so much Pete, Regina, Frank, Indiaartist, Ann, Theresa, Amy, Nancy and Teresa! I'm eager to get back to working on it in the morning. Sometimes I miss painting at home. Guess that's part of the big pleasure of doing the Sunday painting online... I'm back in my old painting environment.
