Today I've been just trying to get patterns of color and value behind Ailee and start trying to get the sense of dappled light on the top of the wall. There are hours and hours of refining yet to go, but I'm now starting to see a glimpse of what the finished painting might look like.
Leaves, leaves and more leaves

She's going to be so happy Ailee. It's just beautiful already.
Susan, the leaves and the dappled light (thus far) really adds to this portrait. That background has really made this portrait exciting and warm. It's not a distraction, just the perfect addition! Well done.
Me too. The finished painting will be marvelous!
Beautiful portrait and such a large one, I have never done one that large, it would be daunting I think. Love the background and the patches of light on the wall, all adding to the overall interest and composition.
Have a fun trip and great workshop and say hi to Ireland for me!
This is looking fantastic Susan, great job!
This is absolutely stunning! I love the expression on her face and the beautiful blue and green patterns of the leaves. Thank you for taking us through the process in earlier posts.
Thanks Ya'll. I'm starting to get excited about this one. At first, the size and the proportion of the painting that is background was all daunting. But now that it's at this place in its progress, I'm looking forward to the next session.
I think you have already absolutely nailed the dappled light here, and Ailee's face is beautifully done! Can't wait to see it completed!
I love the dappled light and rich color in this Susan. It's beautiful.!!
