A very nice award for my painting, Strength.

Strength, oil, 20 x 16.
Today was so special. My parents and my daughter were all with me for the reception of the 2009 San Antonio Art League Museum Exhibition where I won a Contributors Award. I'll have to go back to the Museum later and really take my time looking at all the wonderful paintings and sculptures in the show. The reception was so well attended it was hard to see the artwork!
We went to Mom and Dad's afterward and made dinner, then got to play a hand of dominoes before heading home. We rounded out the evening by watching Beverly Hills Chihuahua on DVD. I admit I laughed out loud.... several times, actually. Go figure. It's been a very, very nice day.

CONGRATULATIONS Susan!!!
Is that the show that was judge by Daniel Greene?

Thank you Jeremy, Jo, Barbara, Frank and Johanne!
That painting was the first of three portraits I've done with a palette knife, and was so exciting to do, I think I hyperventilated the whole while. Since it's now gotten a second award, me thinks the universe is telling me to paint more with a knife. Of course it could be saying, "Paint Native American women." It's hard to figure what the universe is saying sometimes.

Johanne, the show you're thinking of opens this coming Saturday- the Salon International show at the Greenhouse Gallery. My painting, Renaissance, was accepted into that show. I have no illusions of an award there. I'm just completely thrilled to have it included.

Congratulations Susan, so great to hear of all your successes and that things are going so well.

I can't imagine how you managed to paint such a wonderful portrait with a palette knife it's hard enough with a brush!!!
