Finish of 12 x 16 commissioned oil portrait

This is being shipped tomorrow... still wet... to Oregon to be a graduation gift. Packing will be interesting! At least it will be framed and the frame can be the structure around which the packing will be formed.
A last minute ring change was requested, so a photo of a different ring was emailed this afternoon. I'm very pleased with this painting. It's super tight and smooth, but there are some sweet brushstrokes tucked here and there that I got to leave.
I'll sleep well tonight.

Her eyes are stunning!

Ditto on the eyes. Great job. Sure is scary to have to mail wet. Yikes.

Extremely beautiful in color, style and finesse. The recipient will be lucky to have it!

Thank you Barbara, Mrs G, jeanneg and Pattie! I've got it in the chosen frame now and will pack it up tonight and get it to the airport post office before 10 so it can get to Oregon before the weekend. Shipping a painting wet just makes the packing a more careful thing, but the oil will cure in a box as well as in a room, so it'll be ok. I just wish there was time to varnish it. They'll have to do that in Oregon down the line.

Susan, your portrait work is amazing and I'm astounded and jealous of your ability to produce.

If I didn't have to work this "other" job I'm sure I could do more also. I'm so happy for you. It's wonderful seeing someone with such talent actually being able to devote themselves to their art as you do.

I don't always comment but am always watching...keep up the good work. You're an inspiration for what one can be.

Susan, this is a lovely portrait - she looks beautiful but also warm and approachable. The best kind of person!

And I like to hear about other artists who fall in love with individual brushstrokes on a painting!

Thank you Marsha and Angela.
Marsha, don't be jealous, for goshsakes. I look at your work and scratch my head in wonder. You don't seem to be any sort of slouch in producing, either. Thank you for checking in on me. I do the same with you, lurker though I am.
Angela,
Those brushstrokes... I try to be more conscious BEFORE and AS I'm making them, but usually I'm just surprised afterward- pro and con. But some are just delicious, aren't they? And some just break my heart.

I loved the prespective of this one. Seems more alive than just a "sitting". Even though she is sitting still, there is movement. Thanks for sharing your thoughts and feelings about your art.
