Pastel Baby and Girl with Blue Bow

Not the best photo, but here's the finish on the commission of the adorable baby in pastel. 11 x 14 on Pastelbord.
I had fun working in pastel for a change. I think I had it in my eyebrows, not to mention up to my elbows. Funny how I'm so much tidier working in oil.

Below is where I've left off on the commission of the beautiful girl with the blue bow. Still have a ways to go- the size of her eyes, especially. I cut in all around them on the last session and have to widen them back to their normal size. Lots of details yet to do, too.

I've got such a positive expectation for 2009. Love abounds. Any problem is out-weighed by well-being. I'm so grateful for this sweet community we've made via our blogs. Thank you!

Hi Susan, The baby in pastels is wonderful. Pastels have such a soft look to them, I can understand why you like them and it was interesting watching you use them. Your little gal with the bow is looking great too and I know she'll be perfect when you are done. I really appreciate our community of blogs too, it has been such a wonderful addition to my life. I fee I have made so many nice friends, I feel like I know you so well. Thank you for starting your ustream show this year, I really look forward to it.

Fabulous pastel baby, so alive! I swear his lips move and his eyes twinkle! I've never worked pastel on board, always paper, you made it look a cinch so shall have to give it a try. And tell me about mess, I ruined a dining room carpet!

Very nice portraits - you have a really great way with pastels. I used to work with pastels years ago, but have been working with oils now - however, pastels have always impressed me as the best medium for portraits.

Oh Susan I love the baby's portrait.
Eye candy, and so lovable.
Mel and I have ten grandchildren and two great grandchildren so we are partial to the little ones.
I have been waiting to see more pastel work from you and this was worth waiting for.
Thank you for all you do for the artist. I look forward to all you bring to upstream.
