Start of portrait from burned photo

I've painted maybe 5 hours on this 11x14 oil so far. The reference photo had been burned so I'm piecing it together from other photos of them from the 40's, when the ref. photo was taken. I see lots of issues to work out yet, but thought I'd post what I have done so far. It's so good to get back to painting after days of working on my taxes. I hope I've learned the "don't take an extension" lesson for good this time.

Looking good! Susan, when I saw your start of this painting in the gallery I did not realize that your reference was a burned photo. The family must be really excited and anxious to see the finished product.

Looks like you are off to a great start on a somewhat challenging portrait. I bet you are glad to have your taxes finished and be back to the enjoyable part of having your own business, painting. Hope you get to paint on Sunday.

Great start on this. I'm happy your taxes are done, too. :)

This looks so good, Susan - what a great challenge! And I can very much sympathize on the taxes, having spent most of my summer on that.

HI Susan,

I was touched by this painting. Great work, and
a wonderful way to bring the subjects vividly to life.
