Painting & reference from Sunday's online session

sold
I enjoyed painting this one, especially because I had fun company online as I painted. It's oil on 9"x12" on RtisTx board- the first time I've used it and I liked it a lot. I took this photo at night in fluorescent light, so all the blues are more saturated than in the painting, but I thought I'd post it anyway. I did fiddle with a couple of details this evening before photographing it. I couldn't help it!

You can watch the two one-hour recordings of it being painted at www.ustream.tv/channel/susancarlin anytime.

I really enjoyed watching you paint Susan, learned some things from you and will try them out too.
Lovely painting as usual and you always make it look so simple, especially the drawing of the subject at the beginning.

Thank you Sharon and Diana and Karen and Barbara! I wouldn't mind more subjects like this one. We can all relate to the artist's concentration and position, I think. I appreciate your kind words!

Susan - This is gorgeous! Once again, I have to say I like the painting more than the reference. :-) The back lighting, the large blocks of color, the focus of the subject on her subject.. and I can't wait to watch the process online.

Hi Susan ~ I came to your site to see the Alabama Cow comments after seeing it on Different Strokes. Then saw this BEAUTIFUL portrait - I think you are my new muse! I want so much to paint like this piece examplifies.....the play of light, and the 'not overworked' brush stroke and color are really wonderful.

Very nice, great light in the hair.

Oh, I love this one Susan. That backlight hitting the hair to accentuate her face is perfect.
Great gesture.
