Rancher with less red

Not the best photo, but I did take the red splotch out of the Rancher's face yesterday, as well as doing the sketch I posted already. I got to spend the day with a new student, Sharon Woody, and my friend Jo Castillo. Sharon worked on a portrait of her husband and herself and Jo painted a pastel plein air painting out on the patio of the fountain in Maverick Plaza. What a pleasure to have them both there! I wish I'd thought of taking a photo of Jo painting. Here's Sharon and her painting...

My parents are flying in today to visit for a few weeks! I'm usually at the gallery on Tuesdays, but Mary Shepard will be there today so I can pick up my folks at the airport. I haven't seen them since early September so I'm looking forward to a few hundred games of dominos with my Mom!

WoW! today is my birthday, another year wiser. I had a great time at my art lesson with Susan yesterday. It was my birthday gift from my mother. I look forward to many more lessons from this great artist and teacher. I highly reccomend Susan Carlin's art lessons. I also enjoyed having lunch with Jo Castillo and talking. I hope to see you both real soon. Have a Blessed Day!

Susan, I love this portrait - I think that the background really adds to the sense of character. I see guys just like him every time I go to town here - we are pretty 'country' here! My 92 yr. old grandpa doesn't go to town without his bolo tie!

This portrait is great. Very much a cowboy.

Sharon didn't mention her birthday to me. Hmmm. Happy Birthday when you see her again.

A perfect day. Sharon was doing great on her project as well. Thanks Susan and Sharon for sharing with me.
