Gentleman- nearing completion

I've been working on this painting the last few days and really enjoying the process. I liked the initial "slap dash" lay-in and I've had a lot of fun fleshing the subject out and refining more, while trying to leave some evidence of the fresh feeling of the underpainting.
I'll be working on the pastel portrait of the little girl again on Wednesday evening if you're able to join me online at 6 p.m. Central time. I may work on it before then, too. If you'd like to get an email whenever I'm painting online, you can add your email address to the top subscription form in the sidebar of my blog.
It's wicked cold here in San Antonio right now so we're getting a taste of what our friends to the North experience more often. I'm sure ready for the return of our usual weather. In the meantime, I'm off to a dance lesson and hope it'll help warm me up...
I hope you're doing whatever keeps you warm and happy, too!

Susan...you are doing an excellent job on this gentlemen. Yeh, here in TN it has warmed up to 28 degrees where I live, and it is 3:30p. Hope you're enjoying your dance lessons. Right now trying to learn anatomy.

Wow, Susan... I REALLY like this one!!
So expressive and beautifully painted!! I've missed the broadcasts and haven't checked in either... too much on my plate, but this is a real treat to come back to!

Hi Susan,

The painting is super. I'm sorry you're getting a cold snap. It is certainly no fun.

Take care,

Thank you, hissnhowl. Every now and then I explore quiet and subdued colors, but I tend to the loud. Anyone who knows me would say the same of me. Dancing was great- Just signed up for another evening's series. YaHOOO!

Thank you, Loke. I LOVED anatomy. Fascinating stuff. What degree are you working on?

Thank you, Rita! That means the world coming from you. Anyone who hasn't seen Rita's work, I recommend checking it out. Gorgeous, gorgeous pastels.

Thank you, Marian. I really understand the 'too much on my plate' situation, and not only in a metaphorical way. Just joined Weight Watchers to encourage smaller portions. I think I need to put my TO-DO list on a diet, too. Glad to hear from you, my friend.

Barbara, Thank you! I thought of you with my initial lay-in for this painting. You can make all those first-strokes count for so much. I admire that fiercely.
Big hugs, XXXXX

Thank you, Tonya. You're new to me, so went to check out your blog and really like your work. So brave to do abstract paintings! Your 'Kara in Bike Gear' is wonderful. Great color!
