Second post in one day... A doggie start.

Start of an 11 x 14 oil on stretched canvas.
I'm not sure the "halo" is going to stay. I've sent the image to the commissioner to see what she thinks. The dreamcatcher in the background of the photo suggested the idea. The way I understand it, this dog is MOST precious to the mother of the siblings commissioning the painting for her. But I'm not sure the dog has attained sainthood. We'll see.
I often set my computer monitor up on the top of the counter in the gallery and turn it around so I can see the reference photo at its largest. Below is at the sketch stage. Great ear, right?

Susan - I love the dog and I love the halo! (hope the commissioner loves it too - it makes for a very unusual portrait)

Hey Susan, What a treat to get here and see all the new work. You have been busy. Love the two completed paintings of the little girls and your doggie is great. The older girl sure has a sweet gentle look to her. Glad you are busy with commissions, you should be though. Will you paint this next Tuesday with it so close to Thanksgiving? I'll be there if you do.

Thanks, Regina! I'm keeping my fingers crossed.
Hey there Barbara! I wouldn't miss Tuesdays for anything. I have a new camcorder ordered- should be here by Monday. See you then!

You go girl, painting through the storm...the best way to move on, I think. The halo effect on the doggie reminds me of a children's book cover illustration/painting. I like it. If you were painting my doggie (and you have :-)) I would appreciate your halo suggestion! Love it! Your young ladies are marvelous, too!

Hi Susan,

A great painting, and I love the halo.
I've often thought of putting halos
in my paintings. It looks right here because it looks like the moon, or a dog's other favorite thing -- a ball.

Super.
